Long Beach Kitchen Remodel: A Design with French Influence

Every successful remodel begins with a vision. For this Long Beach kitchen remodel, that vision started with a single request: a new Wolf range.

In fact, our clients first discovered our firm through the Wolf & Sub-Zero website while researching appliances for their home. What began as a desire to upgrade their cooking experience quickly evolved into a complete kitchen renovation focused on creating a space that felt more open, functional, and timeless—all while maintaining much of the home's original footprint.

Upon entering the home, the existing kitchen felt visually fragmented. Two small walls interrupted sightlines and made the space feel closed off from the surrounding living areas. The clients wanted a kitchen that felt brighter and more expansive without requiring significant structural changes to the home. Through a series of design studies and layout explorations, we developed a solution that honored the architecture of the house while dramatically improving the way the space functions. As with most renovations, dozens of decisions informed the final result, from layout modifications to material selections and storage planning. The result is a California-inspired kitchen with subtle French influences—warm, understated, and designed to support everyday living with effortless elegance.

Opening the Space with a Custom Kitchen Island

One of the most transformative changes involved removing the two small walls that visually divided the room. In place of the existing peninsula, we designed a floating island finished in a warm mid-tone oak stain that now serves as the centerpiece of the kitchen.

This simple yet impactful change immediately improved circulation throughout the space while creating a stronger connection between the kitchen and adjacent living areas. The island provides additional prep space, casual seating, and a welcoming gathering place for family and friends.

Seamless Design Through Integrated Appliances

To create a clean and cohesive aesthetic, we incorporated panel-ready appliances, including the refrigerator and dishwasher. By integrating these elements into the custom cabinetry, the kitchen reads as one continuous surface rather than being interrupted by large stainless steel appliances.

The result is a quieter, more refined visual experience that allows the craftsmanship of the cabinetry and materials to take center stage.

We also designed a custom appliance garage that provides convenient storage for everyday countertop appliances. This thoughtful addition helps keep surfaces clear and uncluttered while ensuring frequently used items remain easily accessible.

Smart Storage Solutions for Everyday Functionality

While aesthetics were important, functionality was equally central to the design process. Every storage solution was carefully considered to maximize usability and organization.

Custom features include a magic corner cabinet that improves access to hard-to-reach spaces, pantry storage with wood pull-out shelves, and generous floor-to-ceiling cabinetry that takes full advantage of the room's vertical storage potential. These details ensure that everything has a designated place, helping the kitchen remain both beautiful and practical for everyday use.

Timeless Materials and Refined Finishes

Throughout the kitchen, carefully selected materials bring warmth, durability, and sophistication to the design.

Quartzite countertops and a full-height quartzite backsplash introduce natural movement and texture while offering exceptional performance for daily use. Custom cabinetry provides tailored storage solutions, while curated pendant lighting and polished nickel plumbing fixtures add a layer of timeless elegance.

Together, these materials create a balanced palette that feels classic rather than trendy, ensuring the kitchen will remain beautiful for years to come.

A Kitchen Designed for the Way Our Clients Live

One of the most rewarding aspects of our work is hearing how a completed renovation changes the way our clients experience their home.

Since the completion of this Long Beach kitchen remodel, our clients have shared that they are cooking more often, spending more time together in the kitchen, and truly enjoying the space on a daily basis. For us, that is the ultimate measure of success. A well-designed kitchen should do more than look beautiful it should enhance everyday life and create opportunities for connection.

This project is a perfect example of how thoughtful design, custom cabinetry, premium materials, and carefully planned storage solutions can transform an existing kitchen into a timeless space that supports the way a family lives, cooks, and gathers.

Whether you're updating a dated layout, investing in custom cabinetry, or planning a complete kitchen renovation, thoughtful design can dramatically improve the way you live in your home.
