23rd Project

A Light-Filled California Coastal Remodel

This Long Beach family home renovation was one of those rare projects where we immediately knew the transformation would be something special. When these clients chose us as their interior design team, we were thrilled to begin reimagining the home together through a thoughtful California coastal remodel designed for both everyday living and entertaining.

When we first walked through the home, the foundation and layout had incredible potential, but many of the interiors felt dark, closed off, and dated. The kitchen in particular was separated from the main living spaces, while low ceilings throughout the home made the rooms feel smaller and disconnected. Our goal was to create a lighter, brighter, and more open-concept family home that felt welcoming, functional, and timeless.

As part of this full-service interior design project, we completely transformed the kitchen, fireplace, bathrooms, and bedrooms while introducing a softer California coastal aesthetic layered with warmth and texture. Painted white kitchen cabinetry instantly brightened the space, while oak wood accents throughout the home added natural warmth and contrast. By opening the kitchen to the great room, we created a seamless flow between the main living spaces, allowing the home to feel far more connected and inviting.

One of the most dramatic moments in the remodel was the fireplace redesign. We replaced the original ornate surround with whitewashed brick extending all the way to the ceiling, creating a clean architectural focal point that anchors the great room. Nearby, we designed a custom bar area complete with oak cabinetry, an ice maker, and statement wallpaper, creating a space equally suited for entertaining guests and everyday family life.

Throughout the home renovation, we focused on balancing functionality with elevated design details. In the primary bathroom remodel, we created a spa-like retreat featuring oak wood cabinetry, floor-to-ceiling tile in the shower, and shiplap detailing that brought additional texture and character into the space. We later returned to furnish the home office and teen bedroom, continuing to layer warmth, personality, and comfort throughout the home.

This project beautifully reflects our approach to full-service interior design in California creating homes that feel deeply personal, thoughtfully functional, and effortlessly timeless. It has been such a pleasure collaborating with these clients over the years and watching their home continue to evolve alongside their family.
