We love Palm Springs, so when our clients purchased this home as both a personal retreat and vacation rental property, we were eager to help bring it to life through thoughtful desert modern interior design.

Because the clients’ primary residence is in Costa Mesa, this Palm Springs home was designed to function as both a relaxing getaway for their family and a welcoming experience for future guests. Approaching the project from both a lifestyle and investment perspective gave the design process a unique layer of intention. Rather than designing solely around one family’s daily routines, we carefully considered how guests would want to feel when escaping to the desert relaxed, inspired, comfortable, and connected to the surrounding landscape.

As part of this full-service furnishing project, we wanted the home to feel unmistakably tied to its Palm Springs setting while still standing apart from the many heavily mid-century modern vacation rentals throughout the area. Instead of leaning fully into that aesthetic, we created a more refined modern desert style, blending crisp white tones, warm woods, layered textures, and bold moments of color throughout the interiors.

Patterns became an important layer within the design and were thoughtfully incorporated through textiles, rugs, pillows, window treatments, tile, and artwork. The result feels welcoming, relaxed, and full of personality the kind of home where family and friends naturally want to gather and spend time together after long days in the sun.

Throughout the project, every decision was made with both beauty and longevity in mind. Because the home was designed to be enjoyed by many guests over time, durability, functionality, and long-term investment value were just as important as aesthetics. The furnishings and materials were selected to feel elevated and cohesive while also supporting the practical needs of a high-use vacation property.

The completed home feels distinctly Palm Springs while still reflecting the clients’ personal style in a fresh and modern way. This desert retreat ultimately became a beautiful balance of thoughtful investment design, relaxed luxury, and approachable California desert living.
