This Rossmoor kitchen remodel began after an unexpected flood significantly damaged the heart of the home. Located in one of North Orange County’s most beloved family neighborhoods, this home had long been deeply lived in and well loved. While the renovation initially began out of necessity, it quickly became an opportunity to thoughtfully reimagine the kitchen with improved functionality, timeless materials, and a refreshed aesthetic designed for everyday family living.

Because the remodel was largely driven by insurance claims, the project required careful planning and intentional decision making throughout the entire process. The homeowner also took on the role of managing subcontractors herself, acting as her own general contractor while we guided the overall design direction, layout decisions, and material selections. Together, the collaboration resulted in a kitchen that feels elevated, timeless, and highly functional.

To maximize the renovation budget while still achieving a custom feel, we selected semi-custom shaker cabinetry paired with durable quartz countertops for a clean and classic foundation. A handmade-look Zellige tile backsplash introduced warmth, texture, and depth throughout the kitchen, while brass sconces above the sink added softness and personality to the space. Black hardware and black window framing created crisp contrast against the white cabinetry, helping the kitchen feel both fresh and timeless.

To maintain an open and airy feel, we incorporated glass upper cabinets for display and visual lightness while balancing the layout with generous pantry storage surrounding the refrigerator for practical everyday function.

While experiencing a flood is never easy and often feels overwhelming for homeowners, there is something incredibly meaningful about helping families move forward through thoughtful design. Once this family was finally able to return home to their newly renovated Rossmoor kitchen, the space became more than just a restoration — it marked the beginning of a fresh new chapter for the entire home.
